At AHS, we function as a fully supportive partner in helping you achieve a safe and drug-free workplace. We are not trying to be the largest Occupational Medicine company, but we are trying to be the best. We customize your medical programs and background checks to fit your needs, and provide reliable, accredited drug testing services to ensure quality results, every time. We are locally owned and operated, and you’ll find us easily accessible and sensitive to the needs of both your employees and your business.
Drug Testing: Are you positive your employees are negative?
In today’s workplace, fast, accurate drug and alcohol testing is essential to your company’s safety and financial security. In most cases, this testing is state and federally mandated. Fully reliable drug and alcohol testing results are the foundation for your hiring and firing decisions and, ultimately, your greatest protection in legal action resulting from these decisions. AHS gives you the security of knowing that our results are fully accurate and can be substantiated in every instance. We are a Third Party Administrator (TPA) whereby all drug and alcohol screenings go through one lab and MRO nationwide.
AHS helps you achieve:
- A safe, drug-free work environment that saves you money on workers’ comp, insurance and high employee turnover by assisting in preventing major injuries or fatalities on the job site.
- A more productive and profitable work environment that allows your company to realize the full benefit of each employee’s maximum performance.
AHS maintains the highest quality drug testing through:
- Qualified technicians, all fully certified and trained by DATIA.
- Comprehensive results from a federally licensed, SAMHSA-certified laboratory.
- State -of-the-art information management systems.
Contraband Services: Has your company been offered a full-range of services?
AHS realizes that there are many aspects to maintaining a healthy, productive, drug-free work environment. We offer a variety of services designed to meet your overall needs, all of which can be further customized as required.
- Contraband Searches: Our staff is highly trained and certified to conduct contraband searches of baggage, premises and grounds.
- K-9 Units: Our highly trained and skilled K-9 unit assists searches conducted both on land and offshore.
DNA Parentage Testing:
We use the most reliable method of proving or disproving parentage. This answers difficult questions, resolves disputes and streamlines court proceedings.
Functional Capacity Evaluation Summary:
In summary, the Functional Capacity Evaluation is designed to test the patient on their functional ability with specific movements, lifting, specific instruction and proper body mechanics. Without job specific job descriptions, we offer a Standard Post Offer test that covers the basics of functional ability. This test includes testing of their hand grip strength, upper and lower extremity strength and their ability to lift and move weights while monitoring their heart rate. This test has no pass or fail standards and is considered a baseline only. But, if their heart rate exceeds that maximum allowance, we terminate the test for the safety of the patient and it is considered a failure. The maximum allowance is 85% of their maximum and is figured on their age, weight and height. Of course, it is best to have a pass or fail standard, but until we can get your job descriptions, you can be covered with this for future reference.
The Standard Post Offer test consists of 7 tests, which include:
1. Hand Grip
2. Leg Lift
3. Torso Lift
4. Arm Lift
5. High-Near Lift
6. Floor to Knuckle Weight Lift
7. Floor to Shoulder Weight Lift
Tests #2 through #5 are done by pulling or pushing on a bar that does not move and a computer reads the amount of force the patient is using to pull or push, which ever the test requires. These tests are done in repetitions of 3 and the computer averages the 3 tests to give you a baseline. Tests #6 & #7 are actual weights placed in a bucket that the patient is moving around and their heart rate is monitored. These weights start at 10 pounds and go up to 50 pounds with 2 repetitions. Of course if the patient cannot lift the amount of weight required or their heart rate exceeds the maximum allowance, it is considered a failure. If the patient exceeds the maximum heart rate allowance, the patient is allowed a 2 minute rest period and the test is resumed, if the patient exceeds the maximum heart rate allowance again, the test is terminated for the safety of the patient.
This test and the equipment that we use is proven to lower your workers’ comp claims that pertain to muscular and back related injuries. We currently use the HANOUN System and it is called the FOCUS Machine and is manufactured by BTE Technologies.
When your job descriptions are obtained and reviewed, the cost of the test will be based on the number of tests required and the amount of time and safety factors it will take to perform this test.
